The hometown PGA Championship mojo continues for Justin Thomas. The Louisville native found himself backed up next to the fans high above the left of the green on the 256-yard par-3 14th. Thomas had to flop out of the thick rough to land it softly, hoping to keep it close to the flag. Upping the difficulty was the bunker standing between him and the putting surface.
UNBELIEVABLE! Justin. Thomas.

His flop arced high into the air and started tracking towards the cup. The ball kissed off the pin and dropped home, setting off the hometown crowd to chant “JT!” in celebration of the chip-in birdie. Thomas waved his arms to get the crowd to continue.

The energizing 2 moved Thomas to nine under for the major, putting the two-time PGA Championship winner four off Xander Schauffele’s lead.
If the 31-year-old goes on to win, he’d be the seventh three-time winner of the major, joining Brooks Koepka (2018, 2019, 2023), Sam Snead (1942, 1949, 1951), Gene Sarazen (1922, 1923, 1933), Tiger Woods (1999, 2000, 2006, 2007), Jack Nicklaus (1963, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1980), and Walter Hagen (1921, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927).
